Sun Group’s Spicejet airlines which is controlled by Kalanithi Maran, signed a deal with Boeing company at a price rate of $4.4 billion for 42 Boeing 737 MAX jets. The company declared the new achievement on Wednesday.
Chief financial officer of SpiceJet’s parent, Sun Group, S.L. Narayanan, told reporters at an air show in Hyderabad that the delivery of the new jets will begin in 2018.
Boeing’s 737 MAX aircraft offer fuel savings compared to SpiceJet’s, so the new deal may help the Spicejet to overcome the losing money on costly fuels.
Eyeing on the shares, it shows SpiceJet closed on 0.5 percent higher, while the BSE Sensex ended 0.14 percent up. Jet Airways (JET.NS)end up on 2.6 percent lower.
